Interview: April 21, 2008 by phone

Topic: An overview of the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress Flickr pilot project

About the Project:

In January, 2008, the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress loaded historical images onto Flickr to increase access to these images for the public, gather more information in the identification and indexing of these images and to see what happens. Several months into the pilot, these are their reflections.

Great ideasĀ from the interview:

“Flickr offers a venue where people are already looking at photographs…people that may not think to turn to a library.”

“Many libraries are already using Flickr, and using it well.”
